Question System Setup

Hey guys, I'm new to e46 ownership, and I'm definately an audiophile.
I am sure this has been covered before but the search is not working for me...
The vehicle in question is an 05 330 ci.

I am looking at setting up a system in my car.
I have done a few before but this will be a little different.

I know I have 2 options.

Option 1:
Keep OEM cd deck, factory Harmon Kardon Amp & speakers
but add a monoblock to run my 12" sub.

* Main question, is there a way to get signal from the factory amp,
go from there into the monoblock and then the sub?

From what I understand a Low Output converter is needed?
Can someone confirm this? Which wires would I be using?

This would be quicker because I already have the amp / sub / box / wiring just waiting to go in. Also I just baught a DICE Silverline adapter for the IPod and it would suck to have to go aftermarket deck now.

Option 2:
Replace all the OEM sound equipment.
Begin with a flip-up deck and go from the pre-outs
to a multi-channel and Monoblock and from there to the speakers / sub.

* Very time consuming
* The aftermarket deck won't look factory at all...(think empty bezel space)
* Must rip out trim, and door sills to change speakers...
* Costly, if I go this route im putting quality stuff in...

Thank you
