I just cannot stand the bug-eyed headlights and Downs' Syndrome looking front end.

The 1s are too small and too expensive. Pricing that little thing barely cheaper than the 3s make no sense.
And to the guy who fit 4 suitcases in the trunk of a 1. Are those shoeboxes you're carrying?

WOW! I never thought this thread would stir so much controversy! Right now the polls are pretty much split.. it appears theres 2 camps of people... those that are 'meh' to the 1 and those who seem to LOVE the 1.
Here's another question directed to those that hate the 1. What other car would you get for the price of the 1?
decently optioned, the 1 can be had for $40K on-the-road (thats pdi, freight and taxes included) with leather, a sunroof, and an auto tranny.

base IS350 with leather and a sunroof is $43,500 Canadian. That's a hell of a car compared to the 1 series.

That is obviously not a base IS350. Pic failure.

$43,500 is the base price. I was just putting that out there, its a better optioned, better looking, more reliable car than the 1 series. An IS250 is also another option (I personally find it too slow though)

What is this?? A photochopped scion with a lexus body kit and badge? Maybe not but it could sure as hell pass for one.
Seriously, is it too much to ask for a RWD compact coupe that weighs around 1300kg, comes with a decent 6 speed, LSD, great handling but doesn't cost over 40,000? Mazda almost had it with the RX-8 if not for the high maintenance, torqueless Wankel and Hyundai has it right with the Genesis.....which is terrific except it's a Hyundai.

First of all, the 1-series including the 135 handles like ass. The front wheels have almost zero camber in them and there is no means of adjusting it. This results in massive amounts of understeer. There's a reason why SCCA and CASC put the 135i, a car with over 300hp, in F-class.
Second of all, it looks like ass too! more like BigD said, looks like someone rammed it up-the-ass

I think it's great. It makes the 3 series even that more exclusive!

Not worth it. You realize it too late when the fresh smell of new car takes off.

I hate them when they blow by me thru traffic
In all seriousness, I would never would want one personally and I don't think its 3 series potential buyers, that will purchase them.
So what's the big deal?
BMW gets people interested in BMWs without making the Mini the only introductory car.
BMW introduces a smaller coupe, as every other manufacturer seems to have accomplished in the last couple years.
BMW adds a controversial new car to its line up, and its NOT another damned SUV.
Whats not to like?
I say, good job.
