what if I replace my 15" rims to 17"?

Can 17" fit in my bimmer?
Will the fuel consumption go up sharply? Will braking be improved?
Comfortabilty?
Any other effects?

Lots of 17" wheels available for the e36.

I doubt you'd see any significant fuel consumption, even though the rims might be heavier depending on which ones you choose. Braking shouldn't be affected.

Comfortabilty? harsher/stiffer ride due to a smaller sidewall
Any other effects?better handling, rubber is more expensive, looks better, might have a 4x4 look to your car.
