Does this look like a good deal??
I am interested in this X5 (it has 96K kms)... http://www.trader.ca/powerpage/detai...5&adid=7435038
Is this a good deal? Based on asking prices on autotrader.ca, this seems to be a pretty good price but what do you guys think?
I called Paramount and the sales guy says no test drive... weird but I guess they're trying to discourage tire kickers.
Anyone dealt with Paramount Fine Cars?

Never dealt with them, but no test drive means no sale if you ask me.

+1 if you can't try out what you're buying there is something being hidden. The price is ok even though it is the upgraded motor, but i've seen ones with lower k's and same motor go for about 8-10k less. That looks like a very nice SUV though.

I'd appreciate if you can point me to your source.... I'm seriously considering getting one of these 4.8is X5's.... Same motor with lower kms for 8-10K less as you said.

if you can't drive it, then ask the guy to drive you around and listen to the sounds and handling. Ask the guy to hard accelerate and hard break, do the #8 turn at low speed.
If he won't drive you around, I would not even bother visiting that used car dealer

My buddy is a dealer and buys them at auctions. He bought one in the states for i think 26k Canadian it worked out to be. He never buys the BMW though because they're hard to sell.

if he won't let you test drive the X5, forget it
I sold cars, and it has nothing to do with tire kickers or any of that. There's some reason, and who spends $36k on a car and can't even drive it, when the car's local?

Run away from this. As for pricing, I had a 2005 4.4 X5 that came off lease this past December. Mine was a low km car with 39K on it and I bought it back at auction for 35,500.00. A 2005 4.8 is worth more than this, given that BMW has one in stock in Calgary, there is a premium but they are asking $52,900. While I realize that asking and selling are 2 different things, a $16,000 price gap exists...there is a reason and the car "dealer" with a hotmail.com address is hiding with no test drives. How does he expect you to get it inspected by your mechanic?

Those dealers that are setup in a strip mall have their cars packed like sardine
therefore to test drive a car, thay have to move a few cars around
(from that pix,, Paramount might be one of those dealers)
If you value your time. skip those dealers.
I was in one of those looking for an Acura TSX
and when I asked for test drive, they said, "will only do so, if you really want to buy".
I walked out and bought a TSX on the same day from an Acura dealer.

I varies greatly depending upon your driving style and city vs. highway. When I am driving in the city, I only get about 450 kms per tank but when I go on a summer trip, I get about 600 per tank. The 4.4 is excellent on the highway and I get about 11 l/100 km

I ended up buying a 4.4 instead of 4.8 and I'm averaging 15 liters per 100 kms, mostly city driving.
