Question Where is the Factory amp located?

I am kinda new with my E46 whenever i play music i get some nasty noise from the rear and passenger side speakers... i think its something to do with the factory amp, its only does it if i try to turn it up... I am not sure where the amp is located in my 4 door 2000 323I? Could someone help me here? also would this be a fuse issue? And where can i get a replacement Amp if this one is toast? i am in oakville.

Likely a bad speaker, or poor connection.
The Amp is in the trunk, drivers side, behind the carpet stuff.

Try swapping the speakers side to side, before you replace the amplifier.

what kind of noise are you getting?
amp is usually by the driver side shock tower.

I took the speaker covers off my car.. and noticed the speakers are rotted in the front and back... So i guess the plan is to replace them now.

Now as far as i understand the US version has 6 1/2 inch speakers all around? is this true?
Where could i get a good set of speakers for this ? nothing to expensive as i am still a student

I think what is recommended is a component set, if you are planning on keeping the stock amp. Lots of stuff on ebay and kijiji.
There is a company that specializes in building a kickass upgrade using upgrade speakers and keeping the other components stock. Do a seach for Stage 1...

My car stereo sounds like ass, and its all working right Im putting in all aftermarket stuff for 1/2 the price of a good set of component set of speakers.

Its going to be a lot of work, but all the info is out there if you search.
