URGENT!headunit swap & antitheft question!

I'm gonna change my audio this morning, mine is 97 318i

noticed that there's an antitheft light on all the time. if i take the original headunit out, will the system think someone steals it and lock up the system?

how to disable this antitheft? or, it doesn't matter

need your help SO MUCH!!!

I dont believe the alarm on e36's will cause no start if the radio is missing. Easy way to check if that's it (plug the oem radio back in and punch in the code)
