How do you handle a door ding if you saw it?

I've always wondered...

You pull into parking spot, a car pulls in beside you, wings open the door..."ding". Guy either deny's it or says "sorry..." and starts walking away.

I know paintless dent repair can take it out. I've had a few done and the work is amazing. However, someone has to pay for that repair still.

It's not like a accident where you call the cops...Insurance won't help 'cause its less than the deductible...

I know its not much $$ but why should you have pay??

did you see the Malcolm in the middle episode where Malcom’s mom experiences a similar situation in the parking lot?

If this happens, ask the guy for $100 to cover the dent removal. If he refuses, give him his own dent to pay for.

I second this motion!

If it did happen to me though, I would just kindly say, after the person refuses to comp for repairs or just walks away, "ok, so you're gonna leave your car here unsupervised huh?"

Why would you say that? Actions speak louder than words.

I would do this,

ask him politely to copensate, if not I would drive my car across the street and park it behind some store.
Come back and climb up on hood. Jump 2 times and let him call cops or do whatever he wants.

So I can make him paranoid. I know what his car looks like so it will always be in the back of his mind that his car will get dented too. Guaranteed when he gets back, he'll spend 5 min circling his car wondering what I've done to it (everytime he parks in that parking lot).

If someone dinged my car and just walked away they'd come back to a car with no rims =D sitting nice and low on the ground. (if I had the tools necessary at the time)... and if I had a car... damn.

break his mirror. That'll offset your cost as well to get it PDR'd.

in all seriousness though, if the guy would walk away after pointing out that he dinged my car, I don't know if I would damage his car (I love cars too much to do this, even if the other guy is a douche). I would just probably let out the air in all his tires everytime I saw his car in the lot.
