Break Through for the BMW FI world.
Not sure if anyone has read on bfc or not, but Jim Conforti has made a HUGE break through for the bmw force induction world.
Basically you wont have to shell out huge money on stand alones, or a 1000 bucks for a one time tune. You'll be given the tools to tune your stock DME yourself!!!
heres the link!

i wouldn't even say it's for the FI world but the BMW world in general.
SharkEdit (from what i heard on M3forums) should put the e46 m3 at 300whp with the tune alone. add exhaust, headers and intake and your looking around 330whp from the (mild modded) S54.

I'm sorry i'm not much into the tuning scene so I apologize in advance for sounding like a noob.
How much aof a big deal would this be for a guy like myself that owns a 97 328?

for the average joe it doesnt mean much. But for an average joe who wants to learn how to tune its huge. You can tune all the fuel and basemaps which most bmw FI guys have been waiting for.
Its alot cheaper than other stand alones such as haltech,tec3 etc.

Is there any chance of getting a programming API(if it is even open source) for this software? I would like to create my own HMI for logging and trending. It should also be possible to create a software engine simulator. This should allow people to check if a homebrew tune will work on a normally functioning engine, and give predictable hp and tq numbers. I know no simulator can be as precise as the actual engine it should be able to get close.
Would there be an interest in this? I know how to program and am willing to take the classes if anyone can see this type of program being useful. If anyone thinks this is just a pipe dream feel free to clue me in. lol

Ur not understanding the concept.
OBV. standalone is better/effecient etc. But do u think everyone has the cash to fork out 3 grand on tec3?
Also not everyone has the know-how to wire in a standalone.

it doesnt replace it.
It basically cracks a code, allowing u to tinker with the fuel and spark maps like the GM guys have been doing for years.

Hell no, maybe a $10,000 stand alone like a Motec or bosch motorsports maybe. My TEC3 sucks the big one compared to a factory PCM. If you want a racecar then a standalone is the way to go, for a street car (e36 or newer) than a properly tuned factory box will 100% yield you better driveability, startability, and fuel economy than an AEM, TEC3, Haltech, FAST, etc. etc. I may switch out the TEC3 later to play around in motronic land.

Pedro!! im glad u clued in on this thread!!! Good luck to all thoes companies who jus do one time tunes for 600 bucks hahah
Pricing starts at around $250-290 so this is bound to take over.
lets jus hope who ever gets one, uses it responsibly and doesnt blow there engine.
Like it was stated in the BFC thread. Jus because this is now avliable doesnt mean you're a pro tuner. Tuning takes alot of practice and skill.
