what is the best action to take if you see your car about to get towed?
what is the best action to take if you see your car about to get towed?
Today I saw e39 got towed in front of Tim Hortons (Spadina/Bloor) because no one can park between 4pm - 6pm.
Is there anything you can do about it? Let's say towing guy is there with parking officer and usually once towing guy is there parking officer leaves with a ticket issued.
Then what is the best action to take?? If towing guy lifted the car already, there is nothing you can do but paying fines?
Seriously when I call towing truck they take more than 30 minutes but once parking officer calls towing truck they usually be there within 5 minutes...

Just offer to pay the tow guy preferably cash. He'll usually charge you thier towing fee. At least you are not paying for impound fee as well.

If the car hasn't been connected yet, I'd jump in and drive off. You cant steal your own car

if the truck hooked your car your going to be paying the "towing fee"..you can demand them to drop the car but you will be charged for the service. If you refuse to pay they will get a collection agency after your ass and it might affect your credit rating.

StikigreenZ is correct.. if the car is not connected yet and even if the parking control is writing the ticket, you can get into the car and drive off.

I once saw my car on the blocks, ticket written up, tow trunk behind it, (there was 4 tow trucks towing everyone parking illegally back in Calgary)
I just jumped in my car, deftly avoided the tow truck behind my car, and took off! hellz yeah, fought the $60 fine and payed not one damn red cent!

lol. I walked up to some guy who looked like he was gonna tow my e30. Just walked up to him casually as he was walking towards the car, and asked him if he was gonna use dolleys to tow the car. He said no. I then asked him if he knew the car he was about to tow was AWD. He said no, and that he didn't care. I asked him if he knew how much replacing the transfer case would cost, and he said "probably 500$". So i told him its probably closer to about 3K (clearly i'd have to have this done at the dealer). Then he started getting all lippy and telling me to stay out of his way, and that this was none of his buisness.
/keyless
So now that numbnuts figured out it was my car, i told him
A) that he was a stupid ****
B) that if he would've towed my car, i would blow 3K on a lawyer, JUST so he'd be out the 3K. (then sue him for legal fees).
C) that the only reason i didn't let him tow the car was cause i had to go (Not true, i didn't have to go, but i was doing my parking scam thing, so if he would've towed the car that could've come up).
He then threatened to hit me with a wrench. Which was nice, cause we were standing right next to the big JP towing sign on his truck, directly facing the camera at the back a building at school pointing at the parking lot.
So i called him a stupid **** (showed him where the camera was) and then i went home
In most cases, i'd just get in the car. He cannot tow the car with you in it. If he wants to call the cops and have them forcibly remove you from the car, fine. I'd probably offer him 20$.
i ****ing hate towtruck drivers with a PASSION.

Ivan, sounds like most tow truck drivers. Remember the dumb **** who towed my e30?
Me: "Make sure you hook onto the control arms and not the tie rods"
Redneck: "Don't tell me how to do my job sunny, I've been doing this longer than you've been alive"
Redneck hooks chains to tie rods and bends them
Me: "You're a ****ing idiot"
