Move over apple, windows is back and better than ever. Those are just concepts they threw out after vista kinda failed, just to get and keep people interested. But their new platform should be awesome can't wait for windows 7, I think they went back to using the xp platform and they're just working off of it. ( i don't blame them ) vista was shit, it's just that people backed it up because it was a fad, and new and cool. booo erns.

You're a little off on the Win7 thing... it's based largely on the Vista platform.
Can't blame Microsoft for having a little ambition... but damn. That's some fancy footwork they got going on. Wonder if they'll be able to follow through on a lot of this... wouldn't shock me if they did. 10 years is a loooong time in the tech world.
^ is it really based on vista? I thought they totally scrapped the idea of using it. Meh, not a comp nerd, but wish I was =(.
Oh yeah, big time.... looking at it, it's very much like Vista, but sort of a "lean" version of it. Vista's problem was that it was a resource hog... it demanded a lot of the hardware. Windows 7 is much more efficient, but still maintains a lot of the functionality of Vista (as well as the look).
One of the cool things about Windows 7 will be the Microsoft Touch functionality, which when coupled with new devices should lead to some really cool gadgets in a few years.
Don't worry about 7 being based on the Vista platform, that's not really a bad thing.... they've just massively improved upon what they made the first time around, and it should be improving from here on out. It's already faster than XP.
move over apple? Everything is moving to mobile computing. I can do more shit on my iphone than i could on my desktop 4-5 years ago. Apple wins for mobile.
I dont have (and probably wont ever) own a apple desktop/laptop computer, but all the mobile devices my family uses Iphone/ipod/shuffles for running, etc. is (and always was) apple. The closer everyday computing technology comes to being truly portable, the more apple's niche market will give it an advantage.
M$ is doing great things, a lot of the new stuff they're working on (really glossed over in the vid) is really interesting, but move over apple? For mobile computing? not yet.

All of that technology is only a couple years away, it's only 10 years away for the consumer. I'm interested to see what the technological world is like when I'm in my 30's.
the US military has most of the technology you just saw in that video. Its about 10 years away for the consumer. I can't wait to see what its like when I'm in my 30's either.

obviously you can't compare windows mobile to the Apple OS iphone, there is no comparison.
a lot of people fail to see in the oo's and ahh's that a lot of stuff in that video was cgi. The only thing I noticed to be real was the imitation Microsoft Surface [the table].
Yes I agree most of the stuff shown does exist, but nothing remotely close to what was presented there.
apple i think will take over more and more in the future.
look how far ahead in the game they already are.
but it is a nice looking future we have.
and as said, power outages are going to be an issue.
speaking of that.
Fel: hows MCC doing on power? LOL
lol... oh god, don't ask... can never get enough of it.
It is a good point though. When the bombs drop and the world goes black, the only thing we'll have left is the stuff that's written down on paper. Technology can accomplish some truly amazing things... but there's always a catch, always a dependency.

I find it dubious to believe that all the power in the world will cease to exist. If it ever comes to that then chances are there are no humans left either. Even without conventional power there are still power sources availiable that can be used. eg a nuke will not stop the hydro plant in Niagera Falls from functioning, nor the sun from shining, nor wind, nor waves etc.
Apple, while gaining market share, still only holds a very small amont, save the itouch/iphone markets. In terms of mobile computing I would assume that MS will continue to enjoy the largest piece of pie for quite a while relying solely on its current client base and their unwillingness to learn new/different tech. Microsoft rarely produces something better than the status quo themselves as it is cheaper to by the idea/technology/company from competitor. So maybe this future shows that Microsoft will have a hostile takeover of Apple.
