what is a better car?
me and bmwm5lover are having a discussion on MSN, so i want to take it to the boards to get more opinions..what would you rather have..
E28 M5 256HP or 2.5L E30 M3
E34 M5 vs 94 M3 EUROSPEC
what would you choose and would do better around a track?

Unless you want to track with 4 other people (comfortably) in the car, I'd say M3 in both cases.

Here are M5 specs
Euro version 286@6500 rpm
US Version 256 bhp@6500 rpm
Engine type Straight six
0-100 km/h 6,5 s (for US version)
Cw coefficient 0,4
Top Speed 245 km/h
you should be comparing Euro VS Euro
and US vs US other wise no fair!!!

5 series too big for my taste (sorry Terry). I"ll take both M3 (and obvious track winners too)

I can see most of you here are 3series fans(which is perfectly fine, i think the 3er is a great car), but there is just something that makes me go crazy when i see a nice 5er.......i think that the 3er is more track oriented, than the 5er wihich is an executive auto, so they are infact different automobiles....

In the first case, I'd take the M3
Second case, if it were the 3.8L M5, I'd take that. Otherwise, the M3 again.

While the E28 and E34 M5's BOTH have a significant HP advantage over the M3's, both would lose (given roughly equal drivers) on a race track.
With my 325is, I regularly pass guys in E34 M5's, E39 M5s, and E28 M5s (even people with supercharged versions...).
Even on a HP friendly track like Mosport, all that additional mass is the enemy, and my little 172 HP car passes them all without much of a problem.
