Actually, when i was lookin for tranny and ATF, the Purple stuff wasn't much more expensive then the competition. It was even cheaper than some of the other oils i was lookin at.

If your getting Royal Purple ATF make sure it's tranny fluid, cause they use the same bottles as their engine oil.... thats why i have 500ml of ATF floating around in my engine!

BMW uses a lifetime oil, which is made by ESSO i believe (purchased some a while back for the ZF tranny in an E46).

They say it's lifetime oil, and it is/looks like good quality oil, but that whole lifetime thing is the dumbest shit i've ever heard of because you still have to do a filter change, and once you do a filter change your supposed to replace the oil since it might be contaminated. So it's not lifetime, it's good for something like 70,000km's.

I never heard of an oil filter for a 5spd transmission!

Im swapping out my old tranny oil for Royal Purple Syncromax manual trannsmission oil when i pull the car out of storage,

I use Mobil 1 0W40 for engine oil,

And i never changed my diff oil, but ill soon being doing that as well!
