m60 5 speed swap

ok so heres my dilemna .. I have been researching about the 5 speed for an m60 and according to some people the e36 m3 transmission will bolt up... other people are saying that i will need a e34 530i transmission... now according to realoem the 2 transmissions look exactly the same... they both have the same tranmission code S5D 310z but the part numbers are different... now since they both look identicle and have the same tranmission code I only felt it was logical that they would both bolt up to the m60.. help me plz

the ZF's from the e36 M3's will NOT bolt up to any of the 8 cylinder motors.

you can use any v8 transmission though (M60b30, m60b40, m62 etc)

Real OEM is weird like that, the same thing happens with v8 manual transmission and the v12 manual transmission which is ... Uber rare.

If you have both physically in front of you, you'll be able to tell the difference.

Do NOT trust RearOEM for pictures AT ALL!!! They are not at all accurate...

I have a 6spd M62 transmission in stock for $1200 and i can order a 5spd M60for $900...
