pff thats all you got?

Let:

x = # of humans
y = # of horses

so:

x + y = 74
2x + 4y = 196

so:

(-2)[x + y = 74]
2x + 4y = 196

so:

-2x -2y = -148
2x + 4y = 196

Add the 2 equations:

2y = (196-148)
2y=48

so

y = # of horses = 24 horses

&

x = # of humans = 74-24 = 50 people

I was doing problems like this 10 years ago so no homework here.

Judging by some of your posts I'm sure you're doing (or should be) them now..too bad you can't.

You know it's funny... back in high school, you'd be sitting in calculus class, looking at math problems, wondering "where the hell would I ever come across this in the real world?"

Maxbimmer. That's where.
