Is todAy's economy affecting the way you spend your money?

A month ago, I was looking to buy a X3 upon selling my SiR but I didnt list it for I was not sure how this economy is going to affect me. I was also planning a holiday to one of those hot islands, this was cancelled too.

Foresight:...Then the company started laying off employees, so far, in 3 weeks, 300 were laid off and round 3 is coming .....

The morale is so low, everyone is just trying to look busy...

It just saddened me to delete their profiles from the system and it really affected me .. that I had to put off my plan in modifying my car.. I just feel so guilty..... am seriously planning on selling my Z3..

and you know what.. someone else will delete my profile from the system...

how are you guys/gals coping ????

if i was working.....and didnt injure my back, i would have a job. I would do my best to save and spend money as normally as possible. for not having a job currently, i spends pretty normally, buy some extra goodies, but not as much as I would. like i said, if i had a job, my habits wouldnt change.

never know what tomorrow will hold.

I haven't been spending and trying to clear up all debts (nothing big) but even with my small company I dont know how long I will last yet I'm not to scared because I know there are jobs in my field.

I havent been modding my car either but recently I cracked my rear bumper lip on my car (it was so cold it just cracked with ease) so now I have to spend cash on a new rear lip to fix it.

Yes and No.
The g/f and I bought a condo late last year, but at the same time, I was in the market for a second vehicle, for her, but we decided to hold off, just incase, since we don't absolutely need to have another vehicle. I did just come back from a vacation and we are planning on taking one after the summer, so it depends on what it is.

From those that wrote, I see a mixed bag .. somehow this economy did affect your and mine's decisions on where we spend our money.

IE: cutting down on the WANT but still spend on the NEED. like Noid buying a car today;Congrats.. what did you buy?

Condo is good (instead of paying rent), 2nd car can wait...

Postpone holiday..

you know in times like this ....people drink more and eat less
I think Daytona is affected by the stress syndrone ..(Just kidding)

I have budgeted about 2 grand (saving since last Nov) to do up my car this spring,(if I decide to keep it).. have the hood repainted (stone chip) and lowering my suspension.. now I think I might have to shelf it, so it affects my WANT.

Oh well.. hope the economy picks up soon..

From a students perspective:
I find myself spending less on myself, because per say, there isn't any jobs that are calling back, because of the economy. So being unemployed, I'm not spending any money.
But I'm sick of paying $295 a month for my Prelude when I don't even have collision, and just basic PLPD. So now I'm selling my Prelude, and for the first time in my life, going to have just one car, and a beater at that. But usually I travel somewhere in the US/Canada over my reading week...and I'm not doing that this year. Money is a little tighter. But man, there's some traveling deals to be had!

lets see, I came back from a 1 month Asia vacation($5000), when I got back I realize it was snowing so I got a set of new 17" alloys with new winter tires($2000) for my brand new car that I picked up a couple of months before, I also bought a new laptop($800) & new desktop($2400), and when christmas rolled around I spent another $1000 on myself for boxing day, I also have 4 small trips planned within the next 5 months, and another Asia 3 week trip in September, & duing all that I'll be looking for another condo, so at the end of the day I'm spending a lot more than normal
