hey guys i pulled my valve cove today to replace the gasket and i noticed that the rod was scraped all around in one spot what could be causeing this a spun bearing or any other bearing i guessing this is causeing that ticking noise thanks for you help
Try googling images of the words you're using (and their locations in the engine). I'll guess what you're describing is a scored cam lobe. If so, and you have a 6 cylinder M30, this can be caused by the banjo bolts in the oiling bar working loose, and starving the cam lobes.
hey thanks for the reply it is a 1998 528i i belive the m52 engine on it dose that have the bolt you were talking abut i try to get pic of it its only scaped in one section on the rod
No, I'm actually not 100% sure how the dohc motors oil their cam lobes... To be honest, we can guess until the cows come home, take it to Bimmersport, he'll give you a no BS answer in seconds.
