I'm in 1A ME right now. Designing cars, as in their shape, is for industrial designers. Their motors and transmissions and such, yes, that's where engineers come in.

ME is a pretty broad field. There's no doubt you can end up working with cars. I don't know about Humber College, but at University of Waterloo we have a solar car team, a Formula SAE team (basically a mini F1 car - CF body, 12000rpm engine etc), a snowmobile team and such.

But yea - it can be pretty hard. I had 85+ high school averages every year and after first term at university I had a 66. You really have to study hard.

My first courses were:
mechanical engineering concepts

later on there are materials courses, programming courses, analyses of heat transfers and stuff.
