i have a pioneer deck....my face plate flips down to put the cd's in. at that point, i can detach the face plate. all my decks have been like that. thats one way to go....take the face plate out every time you leave the car for the night.

I have an alpine deck and I do the same thing.

the JL shit is crazy pricey. just get a 60$ deck that play's mp3's.

In a E36 or E30, aftermarket decks fit in quite nicely. It's the same size.

An E46 or newer BMWs, plus most new cars, they have odd shaped stereo's. I don't think I've ever seen a dash kit for these cars that looks good with an aftermarket deck.

For this reason, the JL Clean Sweep is the way to go.

this is true. its so expensive to buy that JL stuff

If you make it theft-proof or almost permanent, expect to pay even more for dash components when the thief uses a hammer and pry bar.
