New on here, looking to buy E46

Hey everyone,

I’m new to the site and currently in the market to purchase 325Ci or 330Ci. I’m looking at ’02, ’03, ’04.
Wondering if any of you guys are driving convertibles as that’s what I’m more interested in. (Perhaps some bad things, that may change my mind / is it worth the extra cash?).
Over all if you can tell me some of the things I should watch out for when looking @ a particular car that would be great.

Thanks very much in advance!

welcome.... i dont know a whole lot on e46 models. but i can tell you that your on the right track so far. try to keep clear of 01 and under. also i believe there are rear subframe issues with e46's....

if you wanna try to do some pricing check out the for sale section on maxbimmer.com. you can also try www.kijiji.com or www.craigslist.com

good luck finding your car.

Do your own due diligence(DD), once you have identify the car you want..have the car inspected by your mechanic.

From BMW forums, you will that there are sub frame issue, door actuator issue etc etc,
only a through inspection will tell you whether the car you are buying has any issue.

Regarding convertible, it is fun during summer, my experience is that its a pain when you have to up and down the top, so I drive mine only on sunny day and in summer.

The E46 I own, almost 6 years now, does not have any major issue, its under driven too(less than 60.000km on it); I have an intermittent problem with my keys, some days it does not open all the windows and sun roof...lately its been working fine.

Go with the 330Ci if you are buying.

if your serious about an e46, you should study this.

disregard the "Magnetic Infandibulator" part though, just some jokester on bimmerfest.
