Has anyone seen "The Wrestler"?

I don't think I've ever been this touched by a trailer (specifically Rourke's presence - I can feel every strand of emotion, because I think it's real). But it's only playing in Cumberland. If you've seen it, pls comment (no spoilers though).

might d'l it but the plot sounds really unoriginal.. just a wrestler trying to get revenge on someone in a final battle. How many times was this done?

If it's anything like Raging Bull then I'd be kinda impressed, but if it's anything less then no. I'll wait for some reviews for it to come out first.

Considering Darren Aronofsky directed it and 98% rotten tomatoes rating, I doubt it's same old recycled shit. Definitely wanna see it.

^^yeah I was gonna say, I doubt this is a run-of-the-mill film. Aranofsky does some interesting stuff.

I'd like to see this eventually, it's supposed to be excellent.

If anyone cares, I hear Marisa Tomei is very naked in a lot of it.

saw it last night. great movie. one of the more depressing/upsetting movies i have seen lately, but mickey is great in it. i saw it with my wife, who couldn't care less about wrestling, but she loved it. i strongly recommend it.

too bad it's only in the one small theater. with the reviews it received, i'm not sure why more theaters didn't pick it up...

Oh man, I normally ****ing hate having to drive downtown but today it was worth it. Amazing movie, all due to Rourke's performance. The ending left me a bit emotionally confused but after thinking about it, there's no other way I'd want it to end - any other way would have been a disappointment.

For an older chick Tomei's still hot.

A fellow powerlifter turned pro wrestler/fighter is in the movie, Mike Miller. He's the tall guy with the chinstrap and tattoos all over - he's the guy he and Rourke were smacking each other with props with in the store. The guy has squatted 1200 lbs and benched over 800 in competition, and he just looks fat in the movie, Rourke actually looks built.

If you have at least the emotional capacity of a cute puppy, go see it, you'll like it.
