03 530I vs 03 GS 300 Lexus

Before we start on what car is better, I get the feeling that GS300 owners get better resale value on their cars. Lets look at older GS from 97-00, It looks like to me as if their cars are not in 1997-2000 528i price range, their resale value is in price range with 01+ 530i models. Give me you opinion on that.

As for the looks. I like how 530i drive. I preffer the looks as well. The GS is starting to get dated to me at least.

Looks wise, nothing beats BMWs elegant body lines and shapes. Maybe the value is lover since bmw used the same style of E39 since 1997 to 2004. That could be the reason why the value is less.

2003 E39 530 with M Sport pack. Blue. Wow. If I see that in a manual in excellent condition, I'll outbid ya

^Correct. That is what made E39 530 more original car. Even if you find one I bet it will not too far from M5 E39 zone. Depends..

Lexus' GS line for these years is BEAUTIFUL. I've always loved them - I just needed a newer car.

And pricing difference is because the GS line holds their value like no tomorrow - go check one or two year old ones - you'll be surprised how much they go for...

And best of all - very few of them out there!!

I'll probably never buy a lexus because they have absolutely no appeal to me... but I wouldn't be able to argue them being very good cars.

I don't like companies that copy other vehicle designs to better their brand. First of all they went after Mercedes and had no luck. Now they copy BMW.

What? Copy BMW? Where do you get that? They don't look like BMW's at all...

And Lexus doesn't have to "better their brand" - they have a great rep already.

Reading car magazines they all stated how Lexus did not succeed by copying Mercedes now they started to copy BMW. This was around 1999 if I recall correctly.

^I remember when we argued abour rsx and 3 series. The hype of RSX was so sick ha ha. Now you get none of that. As Qube said in his sign and I have seen it many times.

BigD - They all looked boxy from that era - Can't say that was a direct rip off...

LOL - a BMW has a soul of a high priced hooker by that regard! Gotta keep pumping money into if you want it to turn you on!

The E46 Gen of BMW were total SHIITE for reliability. The E36's were much better - the E30's were, IMO, rock solid. We'll see how the E90's hold out.

Can't argue with the facts though - Lexus/Toyota/Acura/Honda all cost less to operate and maintain and hold their value extremely well.
