Thanks! I'm not sure what I'll do with the E30, but I don't think I have time for a project. I'll drive it through the winter, and see what I can get for it in the spring.

In the meantime, I've done some work on the E36. The missing was due to a spark boot: $24 to fix it.

It seems the previous owner had done some maintenance on it, as the fuel filter/air filter and plugs looked nearly brandnew. The car is an absolute pleasure to work on....

i personally saw that car myself, it was a clean car, but i didn't like how it drove, AT ALL, and at the time, he wouldn't go less than 8k so i wasn't interested. For $6200 thats not bad, it needs wheel bearings I believe.
i didn't test drive it long though.

Hmm. Had he done an alignment before you drove it? I thought it needed wheel bearings myself, but it's quieted down a lot since I received it, and I believe the noise was mostly rusty, worn front rotors. (the car has spent a lot of time sitting, and the front rotors are very worn)
What didn't you like about how the car drove? It has "appearance mod" aftermarket springs on worn stock shocks, so it goes without saying that the car rides poorly. Billie's and stock springs should fix that.

So far, I'm liking what I find. I wouldn't recommend the car to someone who needs to pay someone to finish it, but it was definitely owned by an enthusiast in the past. (found an aftermarket clutch stop, for example, new trans/motor mounts and shift bushings)
I couldn't find anything better for the price: know that it'll possibly (but perhaps not) need more work than a 10-15k example, and I'm happy.
