price in 1989?
Hey guys, just curious on what my car was worth back when it was brand new
I went to the dealership today and they couldn't tell me, said to google it, but nothing there either.
The manager guessed low to mid 30k??

i doubt they would be that low... a brand new gti in '88 was 26k, based on that, i dont think that your car would have sold for less than 40k. Also, cars have been staying stead and becoming cheaper over the long term.

well if you take the current book value of the vehicle and an average depreciation rate you can get a rough estimate of what it was worth 20 years ago.

I have the full price list at home, but I'm not going to look for it.
From what I can remember, the iX was WAY more expensive than the i/iS cars. Like, closer to M3 pricing (which was like $60k back then, compared to $34-40 for an i/iS).
