it's actually a combination of both, some manual drivers are getting lazier so they switch to auto, & the new drivers can't driver proper cars

I disagree, sure manual is better for fuel economy/power but that doesnt compensate for the inconvenience of always clutching/changing gears unless it's a race car then it's a must. I prefer the butterfly anyway. Also more and more cars are triptronic or how every you call it.

this is in the US, in europe it is the opposite. People always buy more manual car than auto. Is it because europeen are less lazy or because they really enjoy driving ? i let you decide...

Seriously, how many of you said to your self, "Damn, I wish I had automatic right now"?
I've never said that. Clutching in and changing gears are so automatic, I barely notice I do it.

In Europe everyone knows how to drive stick, since you can only do your driving exam on a manual car. I think that's the biggest reason.

The problem is, Automatics are getting more fuel economy than manuals now. Therefore, there is a less of a reason to get one.
It's the diehard enthusiast who still love them.
I have an uncle, who’s 75 years old and still drives a manual. That’s all he knows.
With his leg injury now, he’s considering an auto.

There is more and more people buying autos in Europe - especially females.
5 spd is very tiresome to drive in a European city.

manual is not better for anything anymore.. automatic/computers are good enough that they can shift better then anyone can, and can give the best fuel economy.

i said it enough times and thats why my daily driver civic is a auto now, especially driving back saturday night half asleep from the bar it's sweet not to have to move ur legs when u dont have too lol
dont get me wrong on the bimmer it has to be stick just to be able to play around and what not, but for a daily driver it has to be auto, just too much stop and go traffic in this country
