Exclamation Replacing Starter

Hey Guys,
I'm going to replace the starter tomorrow, and i was hoping someone could tell me the best way to get to the four bolts. If anyone has done this, could you please tell me what other things i will need to take out. I have a 4 cylinder so im hoping it will be a little easier to get to them. I will be doing this in the garage so car will be on a hoist.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks

- Sunny

i did it on my e36 but it was a 6cyl, I did it from the top, taking off the intake manifold because I had to swap it anyways!

The easier way do to it is from the bottom, behind the transmission! Search for a DIY, its been done a million times....

Same thing my mechanic told me after replacing the starter. He swore like I have never heard anyone swear!!!! I told him if the starter quits again...I'll replace the engine.

It's not so bad once you figure out were the little spaces are and can tell exactly were each nut and proper wire is by touch alone.
Done mine about 50 times so find it pretty easy now. IMO it is a lot easier from below, small place behind the control arm were you can reach the back, long extensions and an impact to get the 2 main bolts on the bellhousing. Then fish it out towards the rad under the intake manifold and drop it down.
Although can see this easily fustrating someone not so used to the wiring by say wasting 1 houre + and still not even be able to thread the first wire back on.
