MTO rant

update: after getting nowhere with the MTO I decided to call Canada revenue and guess what, its doable! There are forms on their website to do this but I bet 99.9% of ppl don't know about it!

So I need to get the statement sworn in front of someone, I was wondering which one is the easiest to reach: and where?

Justice of the Peace
Local municipal/town Clerk, Deputy Clerk, Treasurer, Head of Municipal
Council, Reeve/Deputy
Others appointed by Lieutenant Governor to administer oaths and to take
affidavits (contact the Ontario Tax Office for availability of a
Commissioner)

The only other option I could think of is running the car through a trusted dealer.
The dealer buys it from your brother, and turns around and sells it to you.
It’s like the courtesy trade dealers can do.

The dealer buys it for $500, and sells it back for $500.00

You pay the dealer GST and PST on $500.00 and be done with it.

The MTO does not collect taxes if the taxes have already been paid at a dealer.

You can just go into any MTO office I believe, I always see signs saying "Sworn statements $20" or something there. Give them a call first to make sure, but I think you should be able to do it there..
