Winter Advanced Driver Training @ TMP 08/09

TMP Advanced Driver Training Winter - 2009

Toronto Motorsports Park (TMP), Cayuga, is pleased to announce its Advanced Driver Training (ADT) Winter Program. Participants will use their own car with tires that best suit the conditions of the season.

The ADT Winter curriculum is simple, a full day of classroom instruction, exercises (braking, accident-avoidance, skid-pad), and controlled lapping with an in-car instructor. The emphasis of the Program will be to improve your driving skills, enhance your confidence, and increase your experience whether you are a Novice, Intermediate or Experienced driver. The first date is November 15, 2008 and the number of participants for each day is limited.

Safety is paramount at TMP. The venue is safe, flat, and technical. All instruction is done by experienced high performance driving coaches. Extreme control, care and caution will be observed by all.

Toronto Motorsports Park is located near Cayuga, just south of Hamilton, Ontario. This developing Motorsport complex can be configured as two small circuits of 1.2 and 1.8 km each or one large 3 km road course. We will use the 1.2 km Formula Reynard 2000 circuit with good run-off room, no barriers and excellent sight lines during slippery conditions.

TMP is please to announce its schedule for its ADT Winter 2009:
1) November 15th, Saturday
2) November 22nd, Saturday
3) November 29th, Saturday
4) December 6th, Saturday
5) December 13th, Saturday
6) January 3rd, Saturday
7) January & February, Saturday TBA

Additional days for corporate group events are available. The cost per person is $150 plus GST. Please bring your own lunch. Time is from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Reserve your place now by calling Vanessa at (416) 291-4561 or booking online at http://www.torontomotorsportspark.co...istration.html

What if there is no snow? Do lapping on dry with winter tires? Or is the track wetted down or something?

Doesn't BMW and Petro Canada offer this training as well?

The plan is to use the full 3km road course when temperatures are above zero. In cooler, wetter, and slippery conditions, the wall-less 1.2km Formula track will be used. On snow days, there will be accident avoidance, skid-pad, and braking exercises.

However, I'm pretty sure the snow is there to stay. I did this program myself last weekend with both my daughters and it was great they both learned so much. The conditions were a mix of snow and ice and everyone had a great time.

Gerry Low is the cheif instructor who has been doing driving schools for over 25 years, he was also a long time member of the BMW club, and some of you may know him his Mosport track days.

He also has a team of very reputable professional instructors including Louise Gambora that some of you may know as a professional race car driver and one of the judges who sits on the panel for Canada's Worst Driver television series.

Saturday December 13th is your last chance for 2008!! Program will resume again in January!!
