What are driving differences between this one and your old 5er? power wise? handleing and features?
Just curious

Nice car... always loved that generation GS; ever since the Money Power Respect video.

I would not do it. I drove a few GS in resort I worked for.... The interior is boring and has a strong Toyotish feel to it. The Gs that year are just too expensive for their dated looks. Now if you like a Jap car for reliabilty that is an other story.
In my opinion Late model E39 angles eyes and rear clears make E39 much newer car. I am confident on that. Let alone M540 and M530 for fun factor. As long as you are happy, it's fine.

well the power cant be compared to my 530i i had, the 540i yes. pulls nicely and its more reliable. handleing is great too, its more of a smoother ride, you cant even hear the transmission switching gears. bimmers are more stiffer so its a different car if you want to compare to bmw's.

I don't know why, it doesn't look too bad really. There are some cars that kept their design exceptionally well but it's getting rare. I must say the Jag S-Type, the Mercedes CLK and BMW E39 from around 1999-2000 kept their design in check...

see... i'm not the only one... big rides need big shoes, everything needs to be in proportion. I wouldn't really call this a car a step down from a 5 series. The lexus can hold its own in the luxury department, i dont know about performance tho.
