It could be as simple as the gasoline that is used and the fuel mappings. IMO it stand to reason that if there is excesive carbon build up at the tail pipe then there maybe carbon build up in the engine as well. On another board we have been noticing and keeping track that some gasoline brands do cause more carbon build up at the tail pipes.
