ok, i drove back from ottawa. That's 500KM. I filled up before i left, it was on E when i got home. I'm not going to fill my tank up just cause its under 3/4. If my fuel pump is broken, i'll fix it.

It was on E, not UNDER E, there was gas in the tank. It started today, before i drove it to the gas station(DUH)

I had somewhat the same problem on my Jeep; it would start and run, but would NOT re-start if hot...Only starts cold. Problem was fuel pump...Made the mistake to got one of those cheap aftermarket ones, that lasted a few months and left me stranded in London...Now i put a $700 Bosh one, and its all good...

I put in a 255lph $70 pump from ebay, he still sells them on ebay. that was a few years ago. very good quality pump for the price, minimal work to make it fit. Strong pressure and high flow. Just a thought. You could do away with the 2 pump setup on the eta.

the bosch ones are 200$ from autopartsway. does it say wether you have a delco or bosch fuel pump on the cover?

**** it, just get a 255lph in line pump off ebay. It costs 1/4 the price and works the same.

99% sure it's the fuel pump relay. Usually a quitting pump makes the car sputter at high RPM's.

I kindof suspect the relay aswell, but on account of this car is running like a top, and its getting up in mileage, i'll probably replace the fuel pump as a prevenative step.

Ok so what does it mean when you car doesnt start unless the CEL is on? It has an alarm wired in i have no clue if it works. But once the CEL goes on it always starts. And it takes longer for the light to come on in cold weather.

If your CEL isnt showing it means your main relay for your harness isn't turning on or its on it way out. Main relay controls weather the ECU is on which controls the fuel/spark, so yeah you'll wanna make sure its on all the time.

everlast -> Thanks, im gonna do that. What exactly did you modify to make it fit? I can sorta guess from the pictures, but i'm not 100%.

The CEL only shows when the car fails to start (in 3rd position, its supposed to be on regardless cause the car's not on). Thanks for clarifying that if the main relay is dead, the CEL wont illuminate. I'm leaning towards fuel delivery problem, but we'll see, it hasen't had any no-start issues since sunday night.

The picture with the ugly cutout is the bottom of the factory bracket. I had to cut it to make the large intake on the bottom of the new pump fit (see the pics of the pumps side by side; the new one has a huge intake).

I strapped it in with supplied tie wraps, used a little fuel hose to attach the top of the pump to the factory bracket and soldered the wires to the bottom of the factory harness.

The last pics were to show the angle of the filter vs the top, because it needs to be on the right angle to be installed in the tank without hitting anything inside the tank.

Honestly, it was really easy.

Ok. So today it didn't want to start again.

Took the rear bench out, took the passenger side fuel pump cover off, i can hear the fuel pump running.

So i checked for spark (really easy on a e30, just rest the spark plug in the front engine hook). Anyway there's spark.

So what should i be doing next? I'm gonna see if i can get someone to come lend me a fuel pressure regulator.

Is there a trick to getting the connector which gives the signal to the injectors to spray out of that plastic box dealy? i can't get it.
