Pentosin CHF 7.1... can i use anything else??

i would really like to convert to regular ATF even tho states use Pentosin .1. is it possible cause its so much cheaper to use.. dealer wants like 30 bucks a liter for pentosin.
i got SLS (self leveling suspension) and have a good feeling i could mess up my seals.... any one ever try any other fluids? or converted?

Sorry you are stuck. not recommended to use anything other than the spec'd fluid. you shouldn't need that much unless you are doing a complete flush. But why do that

I think this maintenance schedule is another one of BMW's overkill ideas. Ironic that they put "lifetime" fluid in a transmission (which I highly recommend you change periodically) but tell you to flush your PS fluid every two years (a system that rarely fails)

I gotta admit, though, that I don't have SLS (Thank god) as I know this system can be expensive to maintain and repair. Perhaps this is the reason for the flush interval.

Unfortunately there is no other fluid you can use AFAIK if the SLS is in the car, something about its properties and the fact it can take the pressure of the car's struts, etc.

However, on SLS removed cars, and do not quote me, you can use regular PS fluid.
Mine has been removed for a few years, and I quite honestly do not feel like risking any damage, but it is something to consider.

One of my capped off SLS lines started leaking prefusely over the summer, I went through ab0out 5-6 bottles of the CHF7.1 BMW fluid, and man, it hurt. LOL

Call M&M in Mississauga at 905-848-4304 they have it for about $17/L. I've done it on VW's but I wouldn't risk it on an M5.
