I have to say I don't like the style of the new GTR...I was a big fan of the R34 and I think the R35 in black is pretty nice but the Zr1 is just an insane machine that has a sound that cannot be ignored so I would have to say the Vette....

It's obvious which one I'd take, but the GT-R's earned it's respect.

I would take the GTR. Easier to live with and more potential for tuning! Plus i would not need to drain an oil reserve to take it for a spin.
Have to say though that this was to be expected. Vette is light with more power! But at the price the vette is i would get a normal C6 Vette and turbo it!Stick some huge brakes and decent suspension and probably have a better car!

Yeah, tune it and grenade your 20,000 transmission when you go to use it. I also seriously doubt that the GT-R is significantly better on fuel than the Vette.

Tunning market for the GTR will be HUUUUUGE! Remember tuning and aftermarket has been a big bussiness for the Japanese and now the car will be for sale worldwide.
Not saying the Vette wont have a huge market but i would rather buy a C6 and do up as it will probably be faster and still below 100.000USD
As for the transmission problems i am not convinced they are fact yet.
I will wait and see.
Now reguarding the fuel economy do you really think the Vette wont be "Juicier" than the GTR. The engine alone is almost twice the size!
Vette is 6.2lt supercharged and GTR is 3.8 twin turbo.
If i had to bet i would think that the VETTE will be drinking fuel and spitting octanes compared to the GTR.
Even Chevy said that it expects the ZR1 to be the most fuel-efficient 600-hp vehicle on the market. How many fuel efficient 600bhp cars do you know? Lambo? I would say the vette will be around 17mpg on highway and 25-28mpg on city. and that is a conservative figure assuming its driven in a reasonable manner.
As far as i know from owners of the GTR none have seen more than 23mpg and that was on a track day.

Fuel Consumption City: 13.2 L/100 KM
Fuel Consumption Highway: 9.4 L/100 KM
Can't find anything for the Zr1. But the normal vette better than expected at:
Manual Transmission
Fuel Consumption City: 12.9 L/100 KM
Fuel Consumption Highway: 7.7 L/100 KM
I'm guessing if you stay off the gas pedal it shouldn't be too much more, since they both displace 6.2L

Don't dispell the aftermarket potential for the ZR-1.
The first tuned ZR-1 with exhaust and a tune made 590rwhp in New Jersey.
And let's face it. Once you mod, you can kiss your warranty goodbye.
And if you drive these car's the way they were designed to be, it's not a matter of if but when.
Apparently using the LC on the GT-R will void your warranty on your driveline, and the tranny is about 20K!
If you do blow the tranny on the ZR-1, the 6060 tranny is $4500.
RPM Transmissions have a fully built and strenthened 6060 tranny for $6500 which is designed to withstand almost twice the power.
Unless you have a bottomless wallet or rich parents, I'll let you decide which car you would risk modding and driving hard.
