I just got back from seeing the manual 98 540i with 230xxx km.
As soon as I opened the hood, I saw this swollen coolant hose that looked like it was about to burst.

Damn 540is

. I'm not kidding.
The front bumper was broken around right fog light.
Drivers door panel was damaged, and it was kinda loose. Someone probably pried it open, damaged the panel and didn't replace the clips.
30% of the paint was peeled off from left front wheel and it was oxidized (yes, lots of peeling!). Not a pretty sight for a nice rim. I didn't look at the others, but wouldn't be surprised of their paint started to peel after winter driving.
Drivers seat was looking worn out. Especially the side supports. Steering wheel was scratched a lot.
Some 2-3 wood trims were cracked. I'm sure they cost pretty pennies to replace. :shifty:
The guy claims it was owned by a Otto's mechanic, but he has no papers. If I was to sell the car in like 3 years I doubt serious buyers would buy it if I told them. All the cars I've sold almost everyone wanted to see maintenance records.
Anyways other than all the above issues its a pretty decent car. Comfortable, fast, and I noticed no issues while test driving it.
