The Chief of Station 14 supervises the training.
I went down to Erieau to take some shots of the happening there, and ran into Chatham-Kent firefighters from Station 14 doing some training.

Erieau, used to be a week end getaway for residence in Chatham-Kent. For years though, it seemed as though Erieau was destined to be a lonely Seniors getaway.

Thank Sneaky!
Not a fan of the background, but I was just practicing my portraits, so this is just to get the hang of light and shadows on a persons face

Pretty decent.
Congrats on the new camera!
Okay, on the dial on the top right of the camera, you will see "M, A, S, P".
"M" is for full MANUEL mode. You can control exposure, ISO, aperture, and everything else in this mode.
"A" is APERTURE PRIORITY. In this mode you can control Aperture, ISO, exposure compensation, and that kind of stuff. You can not control Exposure in this mode, that is done automatically when you change the AP or AS (aperture).
"S" is SHUTTER PRIORITY. You control the shutter speed / exposure in this mode, as well as the other stuff like ISO. You can't control AP in this mode.
"P" is for PROGRAMED AUTO. I have never used this mode so I can't say how it works. I don't think it matters too much considering you have all these other modes, as well as a fully automatic mode.
Also if you want to know more, about what exactly these terms refer to, and what things such as aperture mean, and stuff like that, let me know and I can PM you.

^ thanks that helps quite a bit. the manual just tells you how to take a picture but doesn't explain very well what the other settings do.

Any time.
I think they half expect people to know exactly what's going on when it comes to taking photos. I have made good learning progress in the last year, but haven't learned nearly all there is to learn for a beginner.
