M package??

Hi there. I just joined this forum today.

I currently do not own a bmw. I am looking to buy one in the spring time though. Probably in April 2009. I'm looking to get a 4dr 330i. Probably 2001-03. If I can find a deal on a newer 04 or 05, I might one of those up instead.

Anyways, I've been looking at some 330i's, and I noticed some of them say M package, or sports package. Are they the same thing??

Also what does the M package consist of, on a 330i? I noticed the rims are different, but besides that, I don't know what else is included in the package.

Thanks, Phu.

M Package, there are two:
1) M Performance Package( also known as ZHP ): Full Mtech II Kit, 18" staggered rims/tires, +10hp, modified gear ratio, Alcantera Steering Wheel, Diff Exhaust tips.

2) M Executive Package: All of the above except the performance goodies and the alcantera steering wheel.

Sport Package: prolly just minor things like lip package, 17" rims.

Hope that this info helped.

Aren't some suspension components a bit different on Sport package compared to stock? Like the springs? Not sure myself.

ZHP^^ I like the lip on your rims.

Ok, I'm unclear as to which package comes with the lowered suspension. I like lowered cars, and if it comes part of a package, I'd rather buy my car like that.

I'm also unclear as to how many different packages there are.

Are there 3??

Sports, Performance and Executive??

Sorry for the noob questions, as I am totally unfamiliar with BMW's.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Sports PKG = Sport suspension, sport seats, 3 spoke wheel, 17" wheels
M Sport PKG (2004+ only) = MTech front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts, alcantara steering wheel and shift boot, sport seats, even lower suspension than stanard sport pkg, 18" staggered wheels
Executive PKG = more luxury stuff, did not include sports pkg components if I recall correctly.
Premium PKG = power + heated + memory seats ... and a bit more, maybe someone else can chime in on this.

Hope this helps!

Officially call the M Performance package here in Canada. Don't forget the uprated 3.0L engine with performance cams that gave +10hp over regular 330i.

An effort by BMW to move the last few e46's form the lots to make way for the E90. Included a lot of the sports package cosmetic things without the suspension.

I believe this also included the sunroof.

Here is the ultimate guide to the packages.

Note: ZHP is the US equivalent to the Canadian M Perf Package.

m package doesn't mean it has the m tech bumpers. There are e46's that have an m package and not the bumpers. Im not sure if thats clear or not. If you want the exact packages just go to wikipedia and search e46 330i.

absolutely.. I think your thinking about the performance package. The m package comes with some of the 330ci. If you search autotrader there's a couple 330'd with the m package. Just one of the great options that the e46 has to offer.

That PKG was called the Sport Package, not the "M Package." I'm sick of people posting E46s on Trader etc. stating it has the M Pkg when all it is, is the normal sport package.

Any M Package cars came with the MTech bodykits, be it MT1 or MT2.
