^^^hes right, and theres greater chance in rusting from the weld area, compared it you buy the whole system, and its completely bolt-on, ZERO Welding

Does anyone know what is the best way to make a 320i faster (I know, I know)? Would the best thing be to add an exhaust? or supercharger? what is the major difference? I know that the supercharger is in the front and engine-related and probably more costly... I'd like to (eventually) make my 320i be able to accelerate a little faster...

best person to talk to would be shimajer, he did some mods to his 320i maybe he can tell you what stuff you may need to making you car a bit faster without the cost of a s/c but if you want a s/c then go for it! exhaust wise like i said before i recommend the tse3

Ive tried so many diff exhaust on my e46, Remus, Dinan, and Eisenmann. The best by far is Eisenmann, it's deep and throaty with a german sound to it.

Supercharger is the only way to make your car go faster and more noticable. Forget about all the bolt on, ie. exhaust system, cold air intake, chip, etc... all of those bolt on are just a waste of money, and hardly noticable other than "sound" wise... that's just my opinion.

Not necessary. The NA mods can actually get your some good horsepower out of that engine. You can do headers, pulleys, catback, resonator deletes, chip and many other things. But of course a supercharger or an engine swap will give you the most power. I've had a 330 motor swap done and yes it made a difference but it wasn't big.

So how much would a supersharger cost? 5 grand-ish? And where can I find one? I'm not looking to buy it any time soon but it's definitely on my future mods list.

Best bet is to sell the 320i, and buy an 330iZHP or M3 from the states. Their economy is hurting so bad that E46 M3's are going for 18-26 for 2002-2003 models, depending on mileage. That's what I would do anyway, but what do I know.

Personally I would not supercharge a 320. Just get a 330 or M3 instead. There's no point of dumping so much money on a 320. I dumped a lot of money into my 320 because I got it brand new when it first came out. I would dump the same amount of money on a e90 or e92 now because they are new, but not a e46.

But if you really want to go that route, save about 6000-7000 for a brand new kit and 1000-2000 to install kit and software. You will probably get about 100HP gain.

I don't know. I'm a 21 year old student with like 6 grand in debt. I just don't think a 330, let alone an M3, is gonna happen. Or at least, not in the near future.
My car was almost new when I bought it. It only had about 56k and was 3 years old.

I agree with AXXE, might be better off selling your car at some point when you are ready and adding a few g's and picking up a different model.

btw, is your car auto ? or 5speed ? usually automatic cars feel more sluggish.

EDIT: on a second note, in spring time replace those sporty hubcap wheels with some nice 17" wheels, you will like your car a lot more
