If it was up to me, i'd get a 2.93 LSD. I have a 3.23 on my car now and i actually miss my 2.93, but at the same time i don't because it was an open diff. If i could get that ratio in an LSD i'd do it no problem!

Really? I don't see any benefit to the 2.93 at all, aside from slightly lower revs on the highway. The fuel consumption is pretty much the same, and if you still have a full interior the ambient noise is almost the same as well.

Well, I find the noise of an engine at 3500 more grating than at 3000. It also plays a psychological role, makes you feel you're stressing the engine more.

Supposedly the benefit is better driveability and more useable powerband with a boosted engine.

Ahhhhh, you and jay can take your 700km gas tanks and shove em!

I noticed a BIG difference in fuel consumption when i made the switch from 2.93 to my 3.23. Car doesn't run any differently. When i had my 2.93 i would get 550-600 on a full tank and i drove agressive. Now i drive like a little girl just to try to keep the same fuel consumption as my 2.93!

Yes, thats the kind of difference i noticed on an average tank... when driving agressive, like how i USED to drive always with my 2.93 on my current 3.23 i pull off about 450-500 on a tank when i used to pull 550-600 on a full tank with the same driving style. With the exception of the differential i have no performance mods on my car.

If i drive like the car was a diesel (which i don't like doing) then yes, the differential is capable of fantastic fuel consumption.

Last night I just filled up 55.418 litres and got 691km with the 3.38 diff. That's half and half highway and 401 driving plus a little bit aggresive driving but not a whole lot. I bought the car with the 3.38 so I don't have any comparisons with the original diff. The car is a 323is though if it makes any difference at all.
