Quality of aftermarket E46 Headlights ?

From what I have searched and found most if not all aftermarket headlights are made by DEPO.

I have a feeling used OEM projector headlights will cost me a lot more...

I am thinking of picking up a set of these from ASPtuning as they have the best price on these so far.

also, are the DDM or Apexcone HID's worth upgrade or should I skip it and get some better ones later ?

Any hints / info / personal experience / appreciated

most aftermarket headlights are more or less the same. the biggest problem with aftermarket headlight is condensation. to overcome this makesure you get some clear silicone and just apply some around the edge of the headlight where the clear plastic meets the black plastic. i have done this with every aftermarket headlight i've come in contact with. and never had any problems with condensation

the front lenses are clip-ons right ? I will defiintely considering adding a bit of clear silicone around the front lens. I noticed when I pressure wash my headlights one of them fogs up a little but de-fogs itself within minutes

thanks guys, it really isn't all that hard.

this one was just a rounded edge rectangle with 12px rounded corners, rasterized, then using circle selection tool I cut out the round hole for the bmw logo, 0px bevel, gradient + pattern (I created a pattern using one of my car pics which consists of 2 layers of the same image, background image gausian blurred and top layer opacity of 50% I think) then I thrown in the logo with orange glow,

I've been using photoshop since the old version 5

btw, I like your sig too, same for e36_freak, I see a lot of people have funny animated gifs, some of them really crack me up

I would argue that the weakest link in aftermarket HID headlights is those bloody ballasts! My P46 headlights were perfect for almost 2 years, then both low beams took a crap within a week of each other. The bulbs are still good, so it's either the ballasts or the other thing (ignitors I think?). You hear awful things about HID ballasts all the time.

i tried bimmian website many times but it's f**ked up, they dont have any headlights under the e46 section, and if I search for p46 it keeps opening new windows and finally later comes with search result but when I click on the link of the headlights brings me back to the main page.

I'm going to keep trying, anyone has a direct link ?

Well they stopped selling them on their website but I know they have a couple sets left. Call them up.

And since you have an E46, you should join E46 Toronto.

e46toronto:

I tried while back, they don't take hotmail accounts . I don't use my ISP's email

p46's:

I sent an email to bimmian inquiring about these. We'll see what happens. Are your headlights motor leveling ?

Not buying DEPO's anymore, just realized they all have a stamped gay DEPO logo under the projector.

If I were you id just call them. And E46toronto doesn't take generic emails, if you know someone who has a school email or something it should work.

The projector headlights have auto leveling motors, but they don't auto level on its own. Your car needs to come with that feature. If you want to do the Bi-xenon retrofit with auto leveling, I know you need to go to the dealer and buy a bunch of parts, its not expensive I just know that its really complicated and there are many pieces involved.
