UK spec e30's

I've got a book on the e21 and e30 3 series bimmers and the stats are very interesting.

it says the original E30 M3 is slower in the 1/4 mile than the 325i.
It also says the 325i weighs 2300 lbs and the M3 weighs 2750lbs

this true? if so we get jipped

and the UK 325is (M-tech kit) runs 0-60 in 6.8 secs, I'd love to get one of those or a 318 from italy with m tech kit, M suspension and 2L version of the S14.

Now a true M-Technic car has NO different engine than a 325i/is here. They are exactly the same care but vary with rims; suspension; bodykit; interior; color.

Sames goes as for the 325i Sport and the 320iSE, these 2 cars where UK market specials and basilcy only difference was a m-tech bodykit, sport suspension, rims, and LSD over a typcial 325 in the UK. Once again the engine was untouched.

The South African 333i was built in the South African plant under the direction of Bernd Pischetrieder (who later became BMW's Chariman), the 333i actually used a number of Alpina parts imported from Germany. BMW SA belive about 220 examples of this rare model were produced.

The Italian 320iS was a normal body e30 with a 2.0L short block s14 (m3 engine) stuff in it. Cars in Italy at that time were taxed with a larger capicity for engines above 2.0L So BMW made a car for the market (3745 cars were produced).

The M3 basicly had the cat on it in 86-89 fo the US market as our standards here required it. The rest of the world basicly did not have it thus getting the extra 5hp out of her. In 90 BMW put them on all of them.

As for weight, the 325 weighs 2693-2976 depending on specification (options) and the m3 weighs 2833-3120 once again depending on specs.

As far as the #'s and such, I got them from BMW AG and have been doing research on the E30's for a few years now. The #'s (bhp) may vary a little from BMW NA #'s. If you have any specific ?'s feel free to ask as I have about 50 pages of specs etc.

Actually Adam, the (85, 86) 325e has only 121 bhp. not 122.

sorry I was meaning the 320is not 318is with the 2L version of the S14. The UK 325i sport has a different gear box and LSD. All stats vary a few hp couuntry to country because of different emissions and some cars are equippeed with cats.

I was just amazed that they claim the uk 325i 2dr weighs about the same as a Civic!

The books stats are directly form BMW
maybe it was a misprint who knows

What civic weighs 2300 lbs? besides maybe the little hatchbacks. The coupes can't be that light are they?
