i was thinking about this today.

you gotta press the clutch in in the first place to start the car right?

now if the clutch is rusted and will not realese in the first place, will the car still start?????

not really, what will happen is if you leave it in gear, the car will jerk forward (or backwards if it's in reverse). What simmo is implying is that jerking motion probably cleans off the surface rust on the clutch.
