best place to buy a alternator for a '02 540i/6??
i believe its a water cooled model.
dealer wants 1500
and someone i know found a rebuilt for 400 with trade in...
any places you guys know of?

I would call up bavarian auto recyclers and find a used one that came off a written off low mile car. They have 6 month warranties on their products, so have at it.

theres a guy in sauga who rebuilds them for like 5 or 6 bills, ill see if i can get the #

350$, no core, rebuilt.

keep looking, you can probably get that alt you have rebuilt for about 300$.

bmw uses water cooled alternators? strange.

yeah and if your low on coolant.. first thing to starve is the alternator and it cooks inside (150amp models)
