How much to paint e46 hood - %$$^% vandals!
Just looking for ballpark numbers for a quality job to decide whether I'm going to want to go through insurance. Looks like some a-hole has decided to pick on my car. Saturday morning I had a flat. I figured slow leak as I had added air the night before but when I took it for repair, they could not find a leak. This evening I discovered two long scratches, each about 8 inches long, down to the primer in the middle of my hood.
Recommendations on where to go for the paint job are also appreciated
Thanks
Mark

are they deep scratches? if not then you could probably repair them. But if your serious about painting your hood then DO NOT go to macco... just a tip.

It should be around $700-$800 to paint the hood at a good place (Private... .not insurance price).
Cheaper places, it probably $300-$400.

I'm not 100% sure where it happened but I live in the Beaches and I suspect is that it happened there.. 7-800 bucks makes me start thinking about going through insurance. I guess I'll run around getting quotes this week-end. On the bright side (if there is one), there's a small ding in the hood from a rock that will get fixed at the same time that was not worth fixing on its own (paintless dent repair was not an option).

I didn't think it cost that much to repaint a hood. My shop quoted me $350, and they don't do a cheap job of it. No way a hood should cost twice as much as a bumper to paint.

don't go through insurance, it will increase your premium, and hurt you more in the long run.
