Rust Removal

I was just wondering if anyone knows any good vids or DIY's for rust removal..

for example i have a golf that i drive through winter... the hood and front area has gotten very rusty..just wanted to know how to prep it for paint or just stop rusting further

grind it to metal and use rust converter that turns to primer to stop the rust from spreading and then apply top coat.
