palindromes

I think this is longer:
"Doc, note: I dissent. A fast never prevents a fatness. I diet on cod"

or this:
"A man, a plan, a canoe, pasta, heros, rajahs, a coloratura, maps, snipe, percale, macaroni, a gag, a banana bag, a tan, a tag, a banana bag again (or a camel), a crepe, pins, Spam, a rut, a Rolo, cash, a jar, sore hats, a peon, a canal -- Panama!"

Can somebody translate this one? (Italian)::
"A valle tra masse ebre la nera, l'accesa d'ira Etna ti movena? L'Etna gigante lave vomitante arida secca l'arena l'erbe essamartellava."

I'm a sucker, I tried to lick my elbow as soon as I read it! I work at a blueprint shop so I got some big pieces of paper on hand. I got 36"x48" sheets, I'll try folding that 7 times.
