Well depends on the person. e.g:What is enough power for you is not nessecary enough for me!
And even if you used a smaller turbo you would still have some lag as to depending on the supercharger there would be no lag at all.
And i did not mean to insult you i was just telling you what the reason of the combination is. And yes it is extreme but look at the new golf that is using the same system. A 1.4 drives like a 2lt and thats with no mods.
The biggest advantages are the extreme tractability and low end response that the supercharger provides, as well as the massive top end airflow that only a suitably large sized turbocharger can give. you get the advantages of both, without the disadvantages of either.
Also as for traction if you have a steady torque range traction would be better than a bad turbo range where you wait and then get hit with a gazilion Nm.
At the end of the day its a mater of personal preference. But keep in mind that the Lancia S4 is still considered the most powerful Group B car to date!
And the fastest although it caused the ban of Group B!
