Changing E39 Side Markers...how?

I want to replace my amber Side markers on a E39 540i, with Clear ones. Anyone know how to do that... do i really have to remove the wheel liner just to get to that little piece?...there's gotta be an easier way!

You just have to push them slightly forward or back (I forget exactly) and there is a little spring like device that will allow it to move just enough so that you and slide the opposite end out. The just take the bulb and wiring out of the amber install the clear and reverse the process.

^^ What he said, get a wide flat blade screw driver or a butter knife and wrap it in a towel so you don't ding up the paint.
