The price was as quoted $150 plus taxes or $169.50.

Edit: If you look up the cost of the transmission filter, pan gasket and the correct fluid, do the math this to me is a great deal.

One of the guys that worked there (Mark) for 15 years opened up his own place about 2 years ago, Mississauga Automatic Transmission (Tomken & Meyerside), for all of you that are in the west end.

UPDATE: It has been 20 days since I had the tranny oil/filter and software upgrade service at Toronto Automatic Transmissions and every thing has been great. I've driven the car everyday since, the shifts are much smoother especially the down shifts when slowing down to stop and I can definetely feel when the car goes into reverse, which wasn't a problem before but I took notice of it since Matthew told be that alot of BMW trannies start failing when they have problems engaging reverse.

...so I can definately say I'm a happy customer and would recommend Toronto Automatic Transmissions.

MLue what do you mean you can feel when the car goes in reverse? Does it jerk? You also said that it wasn't a problem before, so what happens now?

Since Matthew told me that if reverse starts engaging very slowly or not at all this is a symptom of a tranny failing or in need of maintenance... so now I am more aware when I shift into reverse.

Since you're curious, he did mentioned that the other common failure was loosing 4th gear but I think everyone would notice that one happening. The only way to avoid damage and to prolong the tranny is to replace the oil and fluid but then again it stands to reason that if the damage has already been done then you more than likely have to pay the piper.

Special thanks to the the Thread Starter "georgost", if he hadn't started this thread I may not have gotten around to getting the tranny service done. Thanks to europrince as well for his input, it really helped me make up my mind.
