FS: BMW E30 auxiliary gas tank

I am selling an auxiliary gas tank for an e30. Fits in the back of the trunk. I believe it holds an extra 20L but I am not 100% sure. Its in great shape. 400$ OBO. Rare part. PM is key. Lowballers/timewasters will be ignored.

Jesus, you had this for sale for a long time!! I've made arrangements to use my buddy's hoist and welder to install this thing in the spring. The only thing I wonder about is the filler neck fitting weird because of the flares the M3 has... it might sit out too far on a narrow body car? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I took it from this:

And got it to look like this, just with a pressure washer:

Also, just for the record, seeing as there are very few pictures of this out there, and fewer people who have one for reference (although I talked to Will Z, and he offered for me to come over to check out the one in his race car).

Filler neck:

Sending unit (which will be useless), trunk grommet, and lower rubber filler tube:

So, I think I'll maybe repaint the nasty orange side, and just throw it in the car. Maybe cut up my trunk carpet to fit nicely, and call it a day. I've already replace most of the small fuel lines between the filler and the tank (the ones behind the rusty cover in the wheel arch), so now will be a good time to replace all the ones leading up to the small expansion tank in the quarter panel.

Found the diagrams on realoem:

Should be a fun project!!

Oh, and once I thow this in my spare wheel well, I'll have 4 containers that hold gas in my car (including the small overflow tank). It should be here in a week or two!!

Auxiliary tank?... I new a new primary tank lol
Just started to leak from the top left side last year, after every auto-x run with more than half a tank my car had a nice eau de benzene aroma in it.

We need another 318is to come along, let it run out of gas, and see how much longer until I run out of gas. I seriously want to know though. Mostly,
I found that at a quarter tank, I was getting starvation around the DDT through the back section of the track on and off for about three turns (ask DIY), so I figure if I can start the day in Milton and not refuel all day at the track, that would be awesome!

I put a brand new tank in my car when I got it because mine was leaking. I think tax in it was $275 for an aftermarket one, which isn't too bad at all.

Not to awaken a zombie but it is the season for them and I have a question...
From what I can see in the diagrams the filler neck connects to the aux tank. but how does fuel drain down to the main tank when filling? I don't see any connection between them other than supply/return lines to the engine. and that being the case how would you switch between them in the cab? I don't see any place a switch would be...

Take another look at the filler neck and give it some thought.

The aux can be a real pain to fill. When my primary tank fills, the pump kicks off. Then I have to stand there putting fuel in at half speed for it to fill the aux tank without constantly kicking the pump off.
