What a long read... What a steal for 300$ thought. If you could only come across that like 3-4 times in your life you would be set! It looks like you swapped out that m50 for another engine? (I'm new to the bimmer scene. Going to pick one up tomorrow ^_^).
My pal crashed his E30 on the 400 and we had to replace the whole back half of the car pretty much. Love the cars tho, nothing can beat feeling like your driving a over powered go-kart on the road lol..
P.S. My old 2004 Dodge 2.0L kept up with a stock 1989 BMW E30 325IS. Kinda funny I thought. Lucky tho, it beat the damn Honda's all the time that are stock.

I swapped the M42 out for a M50.
I'll post up some pictures later. I have the flu and have been stuck in bed for 2 days.
Also, good thing. My spacers have been shipped and should be here mid next week.

Is the swap pretty easy?
I know the 325IS has some good power at top end but my friend said the E has a bottom lower end. Wondering if it's worth it to just get a E bottom end and just put the IS top end on it so you get more overall power.
I was thinking about just putting a stage 1 or 2 turbo on it just for that little extra push (also for the fun factor), but if the M50 swap is easier, then that might be a cheaper root? not to mention less headaches if it's simple?
Sorry about the questions. Seriously a noob when it comes to BMWs. Me and my fathers project is a 1980 Pontiac Tran-AM. Very different when it to comes to motors.

If you use the E bottom end and i top end you don't get more power. If you change pistons and rods to SETA's you get a bit of power. The main reason for the e bottom end and i top end is to prepare the car for boost. It lowers the compression ratio.

Bigger tires eh... I got some Toyo R1s in a 245/45r16 size, But only have 3! Would be wicked on your car for autocross since your already pax factored to high hell cause of the swap!!

Nope, no insurance lol. It's slow in comparison to other 24v swaps.
