I just ordered E36 Coilovers for my E30......

Wow that sounds kind of complicated..... I have access to a welder and a plasma cutter but having the rear sleeve machined seems complicated. Do you know how much it should cost at a machine shop to have this done? For the front do you actually have to cut the sleeves down in size like actually cut down the part that is threaded?? Sorry for all the ?s but dont want to FUBAR anything.

youwill need to cut down the sleeve itself. and for the rear you will need access to a lathe.
this is the easiest way. talk to randy about machine work.i hear he is not bad at machining

Just out of curiosity what size struts do the e36 use? Are they 51mm like the e30's?

This OBX installation procedure sounds a little sketchy.

I think I'd rather go with

Billstein or Koni shocks \ struts

and

Eibach or H&R springs

Sorry to bring up a semi-old topic, but wanted to ask a few Q's:

For the front, since the OBX coilovers offer so much adjustment, do you NEED to cut the front perches? It sounds like if you cut the perch and slam it all the way down, your tire would rub on the spring perch. Can't you just slam it down all the way on the stock perch?

For the back, the sleeve is just a solid can type thing with a flat end right? So you just bore out a little pocket in the middle for the small nub on the lower control arm to fit in it perfectly... right?

If I just didnt cut the front perches how low would they be able to go? I just want about a 2 inch drop from stock, not the whole 4 inches.

complicated post.... well since you guys know what your talking about, just wondering if i get bilstein coilover ( i already have ebiach pro springs) will i have to weld anything? (im gunna get a shop to do em cuz i cant) or are they just bolt on?
